As you may know, I was admitted in the psych hospital twice this year and had my ups and downs. However, I've been in treatment for these past few months. It's been outstanding and when I was under care the first time I helped lead groups. Anyway, I was told I have to be in recovery for three years. I have been doing good and next year is my comeback year. 2020 is a new decade. Also, I've started to get out the house more. However, I had an okay beginning this year working until my mental health defeated me in my first battle. Still, I hope to make a comeback bigger than Jordan.

When I led groups my first time I knew somehow I was a leader then. It's always been in me. I can see myself becoming a mental health tech and working with people with mental illnesses.

No. You are a technician. Meaning, you are dealing with people who had/ or has mental health trauma.
You just left the psych ward, how are you equipped to treat other lunatics when you're not so far removed

It comes with recovery. In recovery which you have to be in, one to three years, it helps to share what you been through with others. My breakdown wasn't a violent one. Meaning, I went through dehydration from walking places for no reason to letting work stress me out. So much that I got sick.

That's beautiful!

Mental health is so important.

And we need more Black faces in the industry. I volunteer/counsel AA/Black teens (12-18) who have eating disorders or disordered eating.

Our group is 1 of 3 for the entire state.

Please continue - but be sure to put yourself first. And be mindful of any triggers you may have recognized.

If it's too much at any given time - take some time for yourself.

I’ve been to psych hospital myself, so I feel for you. If you don’t mind sharing, was it suicidal thoughts?

I wanted to be a clinical psychologist when I was an undergrad. Straight up a teacher told me I had too many psychological issues to be a good psychologist. Basically she said my psych problems would stop me from being a good therapist. I took that shyt to heart and changed majors. However, part of me has always wondered if I still could have been a good psychologist.

Anyway, good luck with everything. Going to a psych ward is pretty traumatic, but you can bounce back :ehh:
