You could always get a house 20mins outside city limits
That aint cheap either, but its better to lock something down now thats affordable
Keep in mind you have little control over HOA fees, and some condos restrict renting.
If you're not treating this as an investment, and/or you see yourself keeping this place for a while, and you can afford it, I'd say go for it.
