Things could get horrible. But not everyone finds opiates addictive. I don't.
Explain to him the actual danger of opiates if his doctor hasn't already. And keep an eye on him. If he starts going overboard you need to intervene.

This is actually a good idea. I suggest you throw those oxys away before he gets addicted. Oxy addiction is horrible and incredibly difficult to come off of. Worse than crack by far!

If he was given them to temporarily suppress pain, then 9.9/10, he has a rather short supply, short enough that he can't get hooked or won't experience the harsh withdrawal symptoms; see how he responds once they run out. If he has a rather large amount, then it could become problematic. The dosage is also an important factor.

Seen people end up doing dope because doctor perscribed them a VICOIDIN 5 MG. I typed vicodin in capital letters because do you know how far you gotta go when you start at 5 mg of vic to doing dope? Gotta get him off them shyts asap.
Once he gets around to trying to obtain them illegally (faking prescriptions, stealing them from other people or drug stores), that's when you should tell him to go to an 12-step addiction counseling group.

I know that feeling breh. My dad had 4 lower back operations. He played football and also triple jumped in college. fukked his back up something fierce.
He'd bring a plastic bag FULL of pain meds in to theaters when we'd go watch movies. Then... Zone out. shyt fukked him up. Definitely got addicted. I never said anything because I didn't want to get put in place. shyt is serious. Good luck.
