I'm trying to take two classes for the summer semester(About three months), get my prereqs done.

Composition I
Intro to Information Tech

I get to the financial aid office and she tells me $1700!

I'm like :wtf:

The books will cost me around $150 :mindblown:

$Almost 2000 for TWO classes?! That doesn't even factor in the remedial math classes I need:dead:

The Fall semester I don't even want to see:damn:

I just wanted to learn web development :mjcry:

I'm learning on my own but I'm not confident in teaching myself at all. Figured a formal education would help me but god damn.

I still owe $7500 from my time at an automotive school :snoop:

I may have to soldier on, learn using Udacity and Udemy and pray.

$20k?!? What financial aid are u getting? My community college was about 8k after grants & scholarships. I was an out of state student so I had to pay more whereas the instate kids were there for for either a few pennies or free.

:whoa:my bad just threw out a number. 60-62 credits for my associates degree. 17-18 classes all together, so I don't know how it would be lower than $10k for everything. Not including books.

My pell grant was mostly used up from the previous school.

So I need to pay that $1700 with straight money and I'm in-state. No scholarships or other grants.

Unless I still have no idea how all this stuff works. Summer classes cost more or something?:yeshrug:

Add Summer II classes with my regular course schedule, I'm looking at $9-$10k at the end. On top of what I owe already.

Automotive school? So did you complete your education at automotive school? I'm guessing this would lead to being a certified mechanic or something like that. You just quit and changed career goals?

If it's web development then I wouldn't bother going to school. There are plenty of sites where you can learn what they teach you for free. While you said you weren't confident, a paid online web development course might help with that if the free ones don't. But you obviously have to be motivated and dedicated bc self teaching can make you lazy.

On the flip side having a degree basically guarantees that you'll get a look, but it won't necessarily mean that you're qualified.

At the end of the day universities have turned into rackets so either figure out how to get a free-ish education or prepare to have debt that you will be paying off for a decade or more.
