i) We're less than halfway into the season
ii) The Rockets have a better offensive rating, and most importantly the starting unit has a far greater offensive rating (the Spurs' ORTG is mainly off their second unit which funnily enough has high 3-pt activity. Go figure).
ii) The Rockets have been inconsistent, had depth issues, roster changeover, and injuries.
iii) The Rockets had the #1 record last season and they were 1st in 3-pt attempts, as well as having one of the most efficient offenses of all-time
iv) The Rockets just blew out the Spurs by 30 points - attempting 54 threes to the Spurs' 28 threes.

The Rockets won 65 games last season (most in franchise history) while attempting the most 3s, with one of the most efficient offenses of all time, and yet you're coming with this weak ass argument.

You're done here. Don't quote me for a few days until you work on your shyt.

:picard:
Doesn't that prove his point... Rockets went from a top team shooting the most threes to a bottom team shooting the most threes.

You're bringing roster changes into the conversation as if the Spurs have been completely healthy.

A bottom team?

Their win percentage is 14= in the league, and they've got the 5th ranked offense (mainly due to their starting unit - shooting 3s). How do you think less than half a season sample size proves his point when the Rockets have had one of the best records, because of how dominant their offense has been, because of their approach on offense (3s and shots in the paint) over the last 4-5 seasons?

I seriously would like to know why you believe the Rockets' woes this season have been because they shoot the most 3s? Why do you think they've had such a dominant offense over the last 4-5 seasons shooting all those 3s? Why do you think they won a franchise-best 65 games last season shooting all those 3s?

How does that prove his point?

"Spurs - #1 in midrange attempts and #30 in 3-pt attempts.

You don't think taking more 3s, instead of all those long-2s would be more beneficial to their offense? They're only hitting 41% of those long-2s, if they replaced the majority of those long-2s with 3s and hit them at 33%, that would be the equivalent of hitting two-point shots at 50%. Isn't 50% on two-point shots better than 41% on two-point shots? Doesn't taking more 3-pt shots instead of long-2s force the defense to cover more distance, exert more energy, and therefore open up more space for driving lanes, post-ups, and general 2-pt shots?"

@CHICAGO

You're telling me that the Spurs have it right, and EVERY single other team has it wrong? You're telling me shooting more long-2s than 3s is better when no other team other than the Spurs is doing it?

:mjlit:

Why am I not surprised it's all the 90s dikkriders in here trying to prop up that era of play - they can't admit to 3 > 2 because it'll blow their entire shyt up.

:lolbron:
you're just a loser who never played ball at an elite level. i guarantee you never played at highschool or coached at any level but want to critique one of the best coach's in league history.

Pop has criticized the 3pt shot for the past decade and in that time utilized it to win a championship. Look at their roster it will answer all your questions, their offense is based on the personnel.

you're not qualified to speak on nba offenses man quit it.

Spurs blow out magic

Took 19 3s
On unsustainable shooting (65% on two-point shots and 63% on three-point shots). There'll be a regression to the mean. They've got a tough 12-game stretch coming up, we'll see how they handle it.

I still don't understand why you're pointing this out when you know taking more long-2s than 3s isn't going to work in the long run?

Spurs weren't even doing anything special on the offensive end (in a structural sense), they were just killing Orlando due to the talent differential, and role players stepped up making tough/timely shots, and the Magic simply couldn't keep up. If anything the Spurs' defense was the most impressive thing about their performance.

But like I said, this 12-game stretch coming up will even things out.

Pop got these boys locking down these advanced teams with ease:wow:

Got to be one of the best defensive teams in the league and they're missing their best perimeter defenders:wow:
