Spurs starters:

30th in 3-pt attempts (12 per game - nearly half the league take DOUBLE and even MORE the amount)
26th in offensive rating
30th in spacing heat map
28th in shot generation v. defender
24th in passes per game (as team)
22nd in isolation scoring (as team)

#1 in midrange attempts (nearly 18 attempts per game, now just to put that into perspective, the Spurs' starting lineup take more midrange shots than 28 other entire teams).

All the top teams in spacing and shot generation:

Rockets - 4.8 midrange attempts per game
Nets - 7.7 midrange attempts per game
Bucks - 9.3 midrange attempts per game
Mavs - 9.5 midrange attempts per game
Heat - 8.9 midrange attempts per game
Raptors - 8.5 midrange attempts per game

And the Spurs who're near last - 24 midrange attempts per game

Spurs are the only team in the league whose starters take more long-twos than 3s, and they and the Pacers are the only teams to build their offense around prioritizing the midrange shot, and both their respective starting lineups have the worst spacing and shot generation in the league.

I really don't know how more simple I can put it; the current Spurs offensive system is drowning in today's game.

Y'all can talk about bu-bu-but they're playing to their strengths, well, playing to their strengths isn't working, while the rest of the league have smartened up and adapted to the 3-pt climate and reaped the benefits; all the while, the Spurs are still stuck in 1995.

This nerd has never touched a basketball in his life :mjlol:
Oh look, you're on my dikk in another thread, not even bothering to address the actual argument.

:unimpressed:

I'm simply illustrating it in the most basic form I can, so y'all can see what's going on. I've already explained it in a visual context, in detail, all throughout this thread, but y'all kept arguing against it, so the only other way that y'all might recognize what's going on is through numbers.

Or should I keep reiterating that they've got spacing and shot generation issues over and over and over and over and over with no evidence?

How does it further your point when you're using numbers too? Going by your logic you must be a nerd who's never touched a basketball in his life, I mean, it certainly adds up given that it sounds like projection.

:lolbron:

I bet out of your 62,000 posts (which, ironically, are more than I've made) I bet I could find thousands of you talking about shyt that makes you look like a nerd who's never touched a basketball in his life.

Now are you going to address my argument in this thread, or are you going to keep projecting?

@Remote @Cycloneon

It's handcuffing the rotations too.

Beli, Forbes, and Patty are out there with LMA and/or DeRozan because they're needed to space the floor, but it's essentially trying to go one step forward, only to go two steps back, since they don't have a positive impact on defense. If LMA and DeRozan started prioritizing 3-pt shots, where they were their own floor spacers, Pop could surround them with more defensive-orientated pieces, which would obviously give the team a greater balance on both ends of the floor.

This goes far beyond just spacing/shot generation issues, it's crippling their lineups/rotations and offensive/defensive balance.

Surprisingly the Spurs shot 30 three pointers tonight.
Unsurprisingly, only 13 of those attempts came from the Starting 5.

And of those 13 attempts, 12 came from Bryn Forbes and Trey Lyles. Trey...Lyles.

I'm looking through all the Spurs forums/SM, and the fans are getting fed up with it all.
