Its kills me, but the people who claim to be the most "anti-gay", are the people who tend to constantly imagine homosexual acts in vivid and graphic detail, and also act as some sort of gay police, where any and everything is considered homosexual or gay --- even if its not remotely present. If that isnt suspect I dont know what is.
Subordinated groups identify with the aspect that brought about the subordination. Gays, just like other discriminated groups, insist upon their rights and culture, because discrimination and bigotry is constantly insisted upon them. To the OP, its all about exposure in gaining comfort. Once you're around people of a different sexual orientation, things become normalized.
