It has to begin somewhat in the music. I've been saying we need a "Niigga" diet in Hip Hop. Treat the word like tokens, you get to say it once per song, meaning you might need to change the chorus

At this point in my life its one of those words I have to consciously choose to use. Back in middle school it was a common part of my school vocab(My parents frown upon its use at home). It wasn't until high school I started to purge the word. I still use it from time to time just so it doesn't sound weird if I ever do say it.

Those who use it practically every other sentence are just doing a disservice to their vocab.
