I went through a phase in my early 30s where I would watch a lot of anime. I went to one anime convention. It was huge. I just spent the day walking around the hotel to different things to see.
The creepiest thing was watching this one anime in one of the viewing rooms. There were about 30 people and they had a video projector showing an anime on a screen. This older white dude in his 50s sitting by himself was laughing out loud at this one scene after one of the characters made a somewhat comical remark. It wasn't LOL funny, but he was going on for a good twenty seconds. I later went to another room to see a different anime. Same dude showed up and laughed at another remark that wasn't funny. It wasn't entertaining anyway so I left. I think it was Prince of Tennis or something like that.
There were people dressed in cosplay. No adult females dressed scantily though.
I went to listen to this one person who was an English-speaking person who dubbed characters voices in English in one of the conference rooms. It was a Q&A kind of thing with a host. That was boring and so were the questions by the audience.

I'm an anime fan, but otaku shyt is where I draw the line. Appreciating Japanese culture is cool, but worshipping that shyt to the point of rejecting our culture is corny, and those items like them character pillows and shyt too much for me.

My sister love that yaoi shyt. she got pillows and cards of that shyt.
