I hate seeing this album filed under just 'Common'...

Anyway, 'H.E.R.' is a absolute classic, but yeah, it's the 5th best, I'd even say 6th....

Nutthin To Do (Common's best song ever)
Resurrection
ThisisMe
Some shyt I Wrote

Are all clearly superior tracks. Which just shows how incredible it is because that song would be most rappers best song ever.
Book of Life is also better IMO, but I agree. I Used to Love H.E.R. gets a lot of attention, kinda like Shook Ones on The Infamous I could probably also name 5 cuts that are better.

Resurrection a great ass album :whew:

Used to Love HER is a great song, I can't take anything away from it.

BUT...

I've always found it funny how he's in 1994 talkin' about how hip-hop ain't how it used to be and has been ruined nshyt... it's become more ironic as the years have gone by. In '94, it struck a chord cause so many people from the previous era would be like 'yo he's right, hip-hop should go back to the essence' and all that... and now, just looking a list of everything that dropped in '94, it's like "damn, he didn't know how bad it was gonna get" :heh:

I'd say it's my 3rd fav song on the album... after Communism and then Nuthin To Do... Thisisme is slick too... Resurrection is dope, but the remixes are waaaay better than the one on the album, so that kinda brings it down for me. Rock with In My Own World and Orange Pineapple Juice too.
Like I said in another tread we always complain about the current state of rap. Just Ice had a record in 1986 talking about how rap isn't what it used to be. 1986!!! Lol

Nah, you'd have to @ him about it. He's prolly tired of me @img him whenever the album is brought up.

he really broke it down on some "Common borrowed this nikka style and flow and cadence and blew up but you wouldn't know cause it's all mid-90's underground Illinois rap scene" type shyt.

That's when I knew that nikka knew his shyt. :mjcry:

It's also interesting how he's talking about things that just happened (afrocentricity is of the past) a few years back, but at the time, it seemed like a lifetime ago. By contrast, it seems like GKMC just dropped.
