I've watched all the Games of Thrones books and I wanna atleast try to pick up where the show is at in the books right now. So where should I start?

Also since I can imagine the books are way different or better than the show should I just start over reading the books from start?

I know some of y'all in here ride or die for those books so what's the verdict for a nikka that ain't never read em?

Season three ends about halfway through book three. The books are great. I started reading them after season 2. The show changes some things but it doesn't veer off from the books too much.

I disagree... The show leaves out all type of shyt. Start from book 3 on... you won't be disappointed.

Start with book one, like others said the books have waaay more shyt than the show (obviously) and goes into more details and is grimier than the show. if you don't have time to read give it a listen it's well worth it.

Start from book one, and pay close attention. This shyt is like The Wire. All the pieces matter.

You'll still miss a lot of things the first time you read the books but that will be somewhat mitigated(at least until book 3) by the fact that you already know the gist of the story, so you won't rush through chapters to see what happens next.

I just started a few days ago. About halfway through A Game of Thrones. It's worth it for the extra characterization at the least. It's really interesting seeing what Ned is really thinking about as shyt is going on all around him in Kings Landing. Tidbits about characters appearances that get looked over in the show. Plus, it's a relatively easy read for fantasy, as in it doesn't bore you to fukking death. The characters are even more interesting thus far in the book, I'd say, because their motives are more fleshed out. It's like a really dope behind the scenes for the show. And I ain't read shyt yet. Start from the beginning. Let's get caught up before April :myman:

Man I was kind of worried I'd be a boring read, as a kid I read the hobbit around when the first lord of the rings movie came out then decided to read the books and bought all three..what a mistake that was :snoop: that CAC Tolkien loves to over describe stupid as details it takes for ever to get anywhere.

The books kind of ruined that whole series for me :pachaha:

I'm halfway through A Feast for Crows and it's sort of slow. I don't mind though because I'm getting a lot of background information on characters. Just gotta power through it.

Copped the first two books at a local bookstore earlier today :aah:

Just finished reading the first chapter and I gotta say, just comparing the first scene in the woods from season 1 and the way that same scene is told in the book there's no comparison. This shxt is a great read :blessed:

I appreciate y'all putting me up on game I was really missing out :whew:

I fukking loved Feast For Crows. The only shyt that bored me was:

(Not plot spoilers so dont worry)
briennes chapters

And a plus for me was
I dont really care about Tyrion or Dany so them being missing didnt bother me much
