i want to write R&B and Rap songs/albums and then just get money and collect royalty checks every time it's on TV, radio, somebody samples, etc .

i need to know how do i get connects in the industry to do something like that tho.

Good luck. Writing is a hard field to break in to. You need to try and find a connect in the publishing industy. You need to start going to industry events. It doesn't have to be exclusive events; it can be producer battles, open mics, conferences, etc... It helps if you're in a major city. I know here in Atlanta you never know who you might run into even at the smallest events. I got a connect a Seasac (publishing company) at a producer beat battle a while back. He was in there looking for talent. If you do happen to meet the right person, make sure you have samples of your work and a clear vision of what you want to do.

What city are you in? Honestly the best thing to do is go to one event and you will see other events advertised. Once you hit a few events and meet some people, you will start to know about all the events. Pick up a local independent paper like creative loading in Atlanta and it should have a listing of local events.

Also, you need to get cool with other musicians and start hitting studio sessions. If you can, see if you can intern at a studio around the way. They usually pay you in studio time and you meet a lot of people.
