So I've finally really gotten into Pharoah Sanders. Got bout 4 off his album on Vinyl. Need 'Astral Traveling', 'Journey to the one' and 'Love is everywhere' albums

Start with hard bop. If jazz had a golden era similar to Hip Hop, it would be the hard bop years.

Check out their 93/4 album, very different from Two Pages. Early Proto Jungle/ Atmospheric/Deep D&B. Amazing album to me.

I also really love Bossa! I started really listening to jazz my freshman year of college (about 15 years ago). shyt is just amazing. The coordination and fluidity of improvisation is amazing. People like Antonio Carlos Jobim, Joao Gilberto, Stan Getz etc. This thread is great because ppl posting some new shyt and some classics.

Started to listening to jazz as a kid and it has been a great journey.

Recommendation to start: Miles Davis- Kind of Blue

This is where I send anyone that asks this question.

It’s so timeless the music is assessable to just about anyone with ears.

Read the album credits, learn who did everything on the album from the recording engineer to the bass player.

Use those names as the main branches on your jazz knowledge tree and spread out from there.

You want egg scramblers. CannonBall Adderly or Sonny Rollins. Some of Coltrane's stuff like is kind of angry or furious rather.
