What a time. All I remember is my dad saying he went to a underground award show (may have been Florida) many many years ago and literally only south artists won He said that was the beginning of the take over

I wasn’t too impressed with it but loved the first album. The song was played all over the place, the demographic it was made for (hardcore club folks) didn’t really seem to care the lack originality. It was just another song on the dj set that they were going to twerk/grind to anyways.

Doesn't mean it was a better song especially in that era where labels could pay for those kind of accolades way easier than they can today without getting caught



The industry was still in the "We tell the people what we want them to listen to" era back then, plenty of wack shyt got played on repeat until we had the shyt memorized even if we didn't like it
