Never watched a single episode but just the idea of a teen drama doesn't have me interested at all especially after seeing Sopranos, The Wire, Westworld, The Mandolorian, Thrones etc.

We passed that soap opera stuff in 2022. Go hard or go home

This is Degrassi and 13 Reasons Why 3/4/5/6.0. Been there, seen that:camby:
I try to get watch a few episodes before I decide if I want to watch a show, and honestly it's not the pause shyt that's having me feel like this ain't worth it.

Just seems like typical HS shyt but modern day. I just might be too old for the demographic.
I'm 24, arguably still young enough for this demographic, and the show still doesn't appeal to me. I couldn't relate to it.

The show is like an R-rated Degrassi High. I hate how everyone gets a fleshed out character...except for the black dude. I hate how they have a white dude "acting/talking black," but the actual black dude gets play-raped in front of his girlfriend. The show feels like it was written by a rich white man who grew up watching black crime movies, and decided he wanted conventionally attractive white males to be the new face of that genre. Also, Zendaya can't act. She just can't. In fact, if there is anything more overrated than this show...its her supposed acting abilities. So stiff. Everything else: the music, the camera work, the ~aesthetic~ is great.

I watched most of the first season with my lady. Tapped out after a few episodes, but kept the facade up until the second to last episode of the season. Then pulled the patented move of delaying watching the episode until later, but later never comes.

It's an extremely well shot and designed show, and the music was pretty good. But this was a combo of two of my least favorite modern TV tropes: high end teenage drama made for adults, and completely irredeemable main characters. The show establishes pretty early on that Rue is every bit of the addict that she says she is, and most of the show just toys around with the audience's idea that she'll pull out of it by continually reminding you that no, she will not.

Eventually it just turned into trauma voyeurism, because the main plot essentially boils down to sitting around to see how bad rock bottom is when she eventually hits it.
