Jay offered to give everything up for it at the top of their split. It was probably a bad decision for him and same not to take that offer.
Album has zero hits, it's strictly of sentimental value.
They shouldn't have sold of Vol2-TBA to Def Jam though. That's the real money. Perhaps he wouldn't be forced to sell weed and go back and beg Jay and them for help.
However with this streaming game the revenue model has changed so classics that are frequently mentioned will forever generate dough for the owners.

I've always been interested in publishing and masters and who owns what etc, ever since mike jack bought the Beatles catalogue back in the 80s (which interestingly enough the estate sold back to Sony recently) that's where the real paper is

It's going to become more lucrative as "old school" hip hop continues to get more popular. Radio stations dedicated to playing old school shyt are popping up, more and more each year. Vinyl's resurgence is another nice way to capitalize off the album. And of course song licensing. Imagine the type of money that would be made if a Grand Theft Auto set in the 90s is made, for instance...
