I wish I could still get into the "holiday spirit" like I used to

What gets me in the spirit now is the traditions, and as an adult I have to help keep them alive. My mom always cooks a certain food on Thanksgiving and Christmas mornings. My friends always have their annual Turkey Day gathering. We started a new tradition with a family bake-off competition at Christmas. I don't have to look forward to piles of gifts, I look forward to those experiences that only come at the holidays.

Think on those experiences. If they have stopped, what can you do to bring them back to life, or start new ones? That will help your holiday spirit.
THis.

I got to establish traditions

I love the food, but prolly just 'cause I'm a routinely hungry nikka.

After my pops passed, any kinda childlike "holiday spirit" died with him. Just wasn't the same no more.

I can. I guess it helps having my birthday right around christmas. :yeshrug: You may need to force yourself to do Holiday things with people you care about. I still get excited but nowhere near as much as I did as a kid. Could be worse, tho... you could be a scrooge.

OK
I'm sorry you feel this way OP. I can't imagine ever sharing your holiday apathy.

I love everything about this time of year.

The weather :noah:
The music :noah:
The movies:noah:
The food:noah::feedme:
Seeing family:noah:

As a kid I never believed the saying of "it's better to give than receive", but now that I'm grown up:wow:. Those words ring so true now.

It's the most wonderful time of the year

For the record, I can't be the only one.
The saddest day of the year for me as a child was December 26th.
Would wake up that morning, look at my new clothes and Playstation, and sigh.
Had to wait a whole 'nother year.
