Im with OP, but that is why I am putting all my effort into finishing this degree and cloud certing up. The beginning of the pandemic gave a bunch of work the remote stimulus. Companies are tightening up and now you basically have to be mid career and up in IT to get well paying remote jobs. fukk it, I'm not complaining, just gonna grind it out. I wanna be working from my balcony or hotel.

There's alot of people that work in tech on TikTok teaching others how to get into tech without a degree or any experience. Just look "how to get into tech without a degree" on Youtube or Tiktok.

Lots of remote work out there. The fintec / pos / payments world is a good place to look.

How'd you get your start and describe your career path please?

I'll describe mine

Started at a Help Desk for a high company, hated it.

Worked a bunch of call centers.

Got back into IT at a medical MSP call center, left there to work in field services at a hospital, left there to work at a school system, and then went on there to work at a small MSP

Did all that with no certs

The job I have now is the first one where I have access to a lot of things, but it's stressful

I am 2 years in since covid that I have been wfh. Could of got a job before then that was remote, but now I am not going back. The ability to travel and not have to take vacation is a game changer.

Yup I have 25 vacation days banked and getting another 20 this year.

I only take days off when I'm getting on a plane

Currently im in my house robe sitting in front of a computer listening to spotify working. About to order a pizza and go to walmart on my lunch , play some ps5 and send some emails

It's amazing, got my first 2 hours of work done just now, resolved some incidents, troubleshooted some others, fukked around with the cat, got some powershell stuff done, now imma smoke a bowl n chill for about 45min before I start coordinating the incident and request queue.
