dam thats some scummy ass shyt breh. but i know how it is in those fields.
That’s one of the reasons I don’t work there anymore. I have a conscience and felt terrible ripping people off. I wasn’t motivated anymore and didn’t meet numbers.

How much for a valve cover gasket replacement on a 99 Avalon? Head gasket?
I just did my valve cover gaskets on my 97 ES300, same engine as the 99’ Avalon(1MZ-FE)

It’s a bytch to do. The front gasket is super easy you could probably do that in 30 minutes. The rear is a pain in the ass, you gotta take off the intake and a bunch of other bullshyt.

While I had everything off I went ahead and did my spark plugs, wires and ignition coils. I suggest you do the same so you don’t gotta worry bout it for a long time.

A honest mechanic would probably do all that for 250-350 if you supply the parts :manny:

Valve cover gaskets- $25
Toyota OEM spark plugs-$20
Spark plug wires-$40
Ignition coils(optional)- $65

I replaced one of those on like an ‘07 Corolla. Just from watching YouTube.

Took about an hour and the valve cover was very inexpensive.

I say that to say, don’t get raped. Either do it yourself or price the part so you’ll have an idea what you should be paying. Average amount for labor per hour is about $60.

As I said it took uncertified ass Me, about an hour to do it. ASE(certified) mechanics should be able to do it in well under an hour.
You comparing a valve gasket job on a 1.8 4 cylinder to a 3.0 V6, not even comparable :dead:

I could do a 4 cylinder job in 35 minutes flat, my Toyota V6 took 3 hours:damn:

If you a grown man and still pay another man to do standard maintenance on your car(brakes, oil change, tuneups, fluid changes, suspension work) either

1. Your pops, uncle, older brother failed you as a adolescent

2. :dame: paying another man to do simple repairs
Yeah, this is true. I work with a guy that would rather pay a mechanic $95 to change his oil instead of doing by himself for like $30.

Oh, btw, I need the answer to this from somebody:
For the average person what cars would you not recommend due to cost of repairs such as taking an engine out for simple fixes etc

Op: what do you think of a 2015 or 2016 Jetta:jbhmm:?

My AC is leaking gas and has stopped working. It doesn't blow cold air.

Cost to fix?

As long as it’s the base S model as vw has simplified it do rental car agencies start buying them as fleet vehicles. I personally only drive vw audi or bmw but I’m able to work on them myself. If you’re looking for reliable stay with Japanese or lower end American cars. Stay away from the euros unless you have the know how or have deeper pockets.

You have to get a evac recharge and dye test to find the leak, it could be coming from the lines the drier the condenser or the compressor. Evacs and recharges cost around $200 for a shop to do it, I suggest Groupon to find the service cheaper. Civics are very easy to work on though, source the parts from Rockauto.com or amazon.

And yeah unfortunately my dad couldn’t teach me anything automotive related but that’s because he’s a lawyer and had deep pockets to not have to worry about finding a good deal since all his cars are always new and in warranty.

I took it to the dealer and they agreed to look at it (my warranty had just finished). They refilled it with coolant and told me they can't find the leak. Are they bullshyting me?

I've been using it for a month now and it's working fine. Am I good?

I want to sell this damn vehicle.
