I am sure Rick Barry realizes on some level that his statement is a bit ridiculous. I think a lot of older former players deliberately make such claims to draw attention to themselves.

They know what they are saying is a bit absurd, but how else are they going to get some spotlight when they feel like their accomplishments are being ignored?


If he came out and said "I'd be an All-NBA caliber player today, just as I was back then," nobody would care and they would keep on overlooking his place in history

Rick Barry has always had a chip on his shoulder, some of it is understandable, some of it not so much. Bottom line is he's always been a jerk, which is why he rarely gets the credit he deserves, and many would agree that he was > J. West, but just had a bad attitude, so dude probably feels like he should be the logo too. Hell his kids won't even give him credit for their athletic ability, rather they state their grandfather (on their mothers side!!) Bruce Hale (look him up) is the reason for their skill and athleticism. Imagine how that shyt gotta feel.

nikkas mid range game was automatic from 1-5 if open, everything is dunk, lay up, or wild 3 in this much more pussified version of the game
