Ice Cube wants to do a movie. He has a few options. 100% finance it himself and then find a distributor and marketer to promote it, put it out and split the profits with, find independent financiers or individuals who give him money in exchange for a percentage, or take your idea and script to movie studios and pitch it to them.

In the case of Friday, they took the last option. New Line Cinema (which has been owned by WB since 1994) “bought” the movie, which means they own it, and are responsible for all the money it takes to make, promote and deliver a movie.

The only way to maintain ownership of a property or its rights is to completely make it yourself and not accept any outside money.

This is one way to go about it, not sure if someone already thought of it here:

It has to be a film that’s a “closer” to the original Friday series, while opening up potential for a new, spin-off series (if the film is successful/profitable enough).

Gotta bring in all the older characters (Tucker included) and portray them how those roles would be if those characters were at that older age. That’s on top of establishing the newer, younger characters (i.e. character’s kids, neighbor cats, etc). How’s the old neighborhood? Stuff like that. Gotta logically include the deaths of Pops and Deebo (maybe have a Deebo funeral scene in the film. That would probably be one of the funniest joints in the movie).

I mean look...nothing I’m saying is original, and plenty of sequels follow the same formula. But if a Final Friday film were to ever actually happen, it would be the most logical way to do it :yeshrug: Gotta have Cube, Tucker, and Epps listed as the stars.

Movies like Friday, Players Club, etc sequels or remakes would have a better chance of getting greenlit by a streaming service than the big production companies in today's world.

I'm assuming Warner Bros. doesn't think it'll be profitable at the box office.

Coming to America 2 was originally made for the movie theaters the pandemic is why it got sold for streaming rights

:dwillhuh: At nikkas in here shytting on the Friday franchise.I have my issues with cube because of his :mjpls: politics but we should support him with any Friday he wants to make, he’s earned that much . They are all hilarious and we need them for the culture :obama:
