It ran its course. It was cool for the first couple years. I went to one when Joe Johnson was playing and his game was exciting actually. But why would I want to watch this every year? Why would parents want to bring their kids to watch dudes with full on grey heads and beards play basketball? Man you can go To the local Y and watch them play. If cube really got the known nba players as soon as they retired he’d have something special. What incentive would a former nba player have to play there? Those guys that work for ESPN or TNT right after retirement are better off doing that than playing three on three half court basketball that might get broadcasted at like 3pm on a Saturday.

The Big3 is a niche summer league. While it's not in direct competition, it does take place during the summer, as does the WNBA, and the Summer League for hardcore. Their (Big3) problem is that they have problems securing arenas to play in, whether booked, blocked by NBA, or fee too high. The NBA could step in and assist here, but they don't. Another issue is that there are a lot of former legends associated with it, and even though the NBA doesn't do ish with said legends unless it's a spectacle, it still creates a potential branding issue.

Now, I went to Big3 2/3 of first years....one year they didn't come close to Philly. But there were crowds, and it seemed to be generating solid income. Then COVID hit, and killed its momentum, so there's that. There were going to be multiple 3-on-3 leagues to create a better market, but it all fizzled out.
