BET and VH1 played this movie to death and it ended up being a holiday favorite.

Sounds funny but how would that premise fit the motif of “Friday” where every movie is supposed to be one day

Wasn’t next Friday over the span of like 3 days? Or maybe the Xmas one? It’s been so long I can’t remember.

I went to a comedy club around 2015 and John Witherspoon was the headliner. He flat out told us the next Friday movie was in the works and he was so excited. When I tell you the crowd POPPED when he said that Nikkas was hi fiving like they won a championship. Women were screaming. Everybody left the club buzzing. We really thought we had some background info and we was hype.

A few years later Spoon died and no mention of the new Friday movie was ever put out

If this was a separate movie on its own unrelated to the Friday franchise and its characters, then it might have worked as a standalone flick starring Cube and Epps.

There have been plenty of prison comedy movies in Hollywood, but the issue imo isn't the prison script but the introduction of a rehab run by Smokey and how all of that supposedly fits into one day (Friday) is what probably really threw off the movie executives.
