You’ll note he said ‘I love those songs’. He never specified Not Like Us

It’s only youngins (Kollege Kidd), casuals, and Cacs who automatically assume Not Like us is the best diss track. It’s not. It’s Meet the Grahams

Folks hate for Drake has blinded them into believing Not Like Us is a top tier diss track.

It isn't.

Hold up, folks saying No Vaseline doesn't get played anymore. I just heard that shyt on Sirius yesterday. :ohlawd:

I'm not mad at this assessment. :manny:

Fred.

Yeah same thing I thought. It's not a crazy statement at all. To say that Cube was the underdog at the time would be an understatement. He made the whole NWA look crazy overnight, while at the height of their powers. No vaseline is at worst #2

No Vaseline has too many booty warrior type bars to be a comfortable listen nowadays. No doubt a moment in the culture, but there's a reason the people moved past that.

I think Dre Day is a lot worse in that regard.

With No Vaseline, at least it’s a metaphor for getting fukked out of money.

Dre Day is just nonstop rapey gay threats/disses (until it came to dissing Cube and then they tone it down lol)

Only Ice Cube could have come back from this. NWA made a perfect old school diss record

Real nikkaz was flawless

"No Vaseline" was the first modern style diss record and might be the best diss record ever but it HAD to be!

At the time rapping about another dude's ass and mouth was a legitimate battle tactic and made you look like the top guy :manny:. Today it sounds atrocious from a music standpoint and sounds like some prison fakkit shyt. Cube is a dumbass for injecting himself into a better/worse conversation with his old booty raps. Not Like Us is too new to call anyway, but Ether is just way better. Same goes for Dre Day and Dollaz + Sense. They all had their moments, why open up the debate again?

I'd think that goes to BDP's The Bridge Is Over. Not just because they took out Shan and made Queens look soft as the old heads say but because KRS basically started his career by going at a popular rapper of a popular rap crew and damn near snatched whatever rap title he held. Not only that, he actually ended up having a legendary rap career that inspired generations of rappers after him. That's the most hip hop thing, I've ever heard, ever. The only other rapper ever doing something like that and succeeded was 50 Cent. Compare that to the current times, if some no-name rapper diss a rap star you wouldn't even know.
