Oh yeah, and it was 120% TRUTH. Same for AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted and The Predator. True to the Game is arguably the greatest hip-hop song ever written. I remember playing it in the same car as my mother, and as soon as the white bytch line came on, my mama said, "Yep, that's true."
The way Cube opened the Album with "The Wrong nikka to fukk wit" was just :ohlawd:

I always wondered how he got away with that line, assuming he was a street nikka. I mean the shyt is true and needed to be said, but I know the hustlers who was slangin couldn't have been feelin that shyt.

Cuz it's true. You as bad as the police/Cuz you KILL US.Got rich when you started slangin dope but you aint built us a supermarket so we could spend our money with the blacks/Too busy buyin gold and cadillacs

Listening to that Death Cerftificate in 2014 u cant help but to ask what the hell happened to Hip Hop? Why aren't the top speaking truth anymore.

Its :demonic: on how they shut out the pro-black music but they play gangsta and trap music on the regular to keep people dumb.

Ring tones happened to hip hop, and people stopped holding each other accountable.

Even in his old works, Cube spoke to THAT generation. "On MTV, but they don't care..."

I think that's part of it but a bigger part is the huge decline of music sales overtime. People jumping on different trends & being a raw mc doesn't matter anymore. The objective is making money & a lot of execs & artists feel "dropping knowledge" will get you dropped or pushed back. And the ones that are on the forefront of the game aren't speaking on those issues so there's the breakdown.

Even in the early 90s(specifically 91 when DC dropped) you had one hit wonders & gimmicks but there was a balance. Now present day with kids attentions span being so short it's about your charisma, not your skills which is sad...

Yeah, and these kids wonder why no one becomes excited or remember their generation of one hit wonders.

Imagine if/when you have kids, and you have NOTHING to show for it, how would you feel? :wow:
