i see a lot of cats compare them. i see they have the same type of humor. same type of irony. obviously they differ in other ways but at their best i think they operate on the same level.
anyway, who you got?
ice cube is a founding father of modern hip hop. not many mc's you can say that about. i think obviously rakim would qualify for that label. as well as scarface. as well as krs. as well as melle mel. biggie is kind of the 3rd wave of great mc's after the early 80's mc's like melle mel, grandmaster caz, run dmc, ll cool j, kool mo dee, etc. and late 80's/early 90s golden era which were the second wave.
cube helped birth street rap which i think is the greatest version of rap. i love that party rap, introspective rap, excentric rap and other genres, but imho the best rap sh!t is that street rap.
and his catalogue is flawless.
straight outta compton

he also wrote songs for other acts like eazy etc.
biggie is also a very unique character and i feel the greatest talent hip hop ever had. he had high marks in every category. his had a great voice. just his voice alone could stop youin ya tracks. his humour was crazy as fukk. he had that dont give a fukk what i say attitude way before eminem came and white privelaged it. he was very versatile. party song? check. girl song? check. battle song? check. intrspective song? check. biggies catalogue has very little wasted effort. an effortless storyteller.
of course he only had two albums.
ready to die
life after death.
i dont think he fulfilled his greateness throgh no fault of his own, but i think hs potential was crazy.
anyway, who you think is better.
i gotta give it to cube . he came he saw he conquered. no wasted potential. birthed the most inportant sub genre. proved he could survive solo. had one of the best battle records ever. explained the black inner city experience as well as anyone ever did and did it in an entertaining way.
cube has to be in everyones top 3.
