I mean, they already have a plot with Pops being gone. I'll watch for hell of it but with the sparse cast and the unlikely probability that they can convince Chris Tucker to return for a proper sendoff, I'm not expecting much. They could use Nia Long, too.

A ‘Death at a Funeral’ type vibe possibly? There have been remakes of Coming to America and House Party, and thats damn near a 35-40 year gap for those movies.

It’s going to generate interest like I’ve mentioned in another thread, but they missed an opportunity to tie the franchise up nicely some time back. Pops was too integral to the franchise.

House Party 2 kept some of it’s comedic elements from the first, but it definitely had a more serious tone. It was somber, conscious, and touch on some pertinent issues. Not only it dealt with Robin Harris’ death, but it was also Kid finding his way through life.

Cube would probably lean more into a ‘Death at a Funeral’ atmosphere in comparison to House Party 2. The casting for this proposed Friday movie would have to be top tier, IMO. I could see Chris Tucker possibly returning if the movie is dedicated to John Witherspoon and if his character displayed some growth but kept some some of his humor.
