Need to do more research into the plight of child soldiers in Africa before i can really give this a rating but like others have already said not sure that "scene" needed to be in this.

Also if Idris gets nominated for this it will prove (once again) that our people only get recognized for playing the most reprehensible characters on screen.

WITH ALL THIS BEING SAID this is a POWERFUL piece of work!!

Adu and even more Strika are the real gems of this movie.

Sorry to this I was disappointed brehs

Cinematography was great, actors were good but story line felt rushed and all over the place anddd

the pedo part wasn't even need smh
I didn't like the pedo part either but I wouldn't say it wasn't needed

Agu changed after that.He started smoking, using that gun powder shyt, and became more ruthless after that

He basically became just like the rest of them to a certain extent

To me the scene helped show how the kids became savages

Hell,I didn't even realize how many of them young nikkas had that hat until Idris gave Agu one

It told me why Strika never talked and was depressed all the time

The scene where Strika was standing at the door waiting for Agu to come out was powerful as fukk.He knew what was gonna happen to him and was there waiting to console him after it happened

I actually picked up on the pedo shyt earlier though.Notice when they first capture Agu and he's sitting in the circle while they're eating and he asked for some food, one of the boys is called over to Idris tent and goes inside

I got a strong pedo vibe right then and there and the Agu scene just confirmed the boy who went in the tent got molested

I absolutely LOVED this movie but i didnt like the ending

First 100 minutes or so are certified classic

After the part where Idris 2nd in command gets shot at the brothel the last 30 minutes weren't as good

The ending wasn't bad or anything it just wasn't classic like the rest of the movie

I really wish that they had come up with a different/better ending cause this could've been one of those classics people talk about 50 years from now but they kinda dropped the ball

Pedo shyt was probably some psychological stuff because that one older kid was clearly on some rape and kill everything mentality. That was how they were all gonna be after awhile
I'm not surprised those two kids at the end couldn't break out of that mentality. That's all they knew

I watched the movie last night and thought it was good (I wouldn't have known about it if it wasn't for this thread). I agree that the ending could have been better; it became somewhat anticlimactic, but still good.

In terms of the "pedo" stuff, that is probably reality in those situations (just like the rape of women which was also depicted in the movie). As a society, we've just become desensitized to certain types of sexual violence since it's seen as a norm, but sexual violence against young boys is also a reality.

I felt the story could of had a better ending but I realized the director is already letting you know how it ended as you watched the movie. His mother? I think we know what happened, the commandt? That's thats the real question

Movie is wild. Idris is a lil overrated doe. Those kids killed it. I thought they coulda filmed Strika stomping on the girl better. Looked too fake.

Just started watching. I'm 90% sure it's scripted in Fante - I've understood the dialogue without reading the subtitles.:ohhh:

#GhanafuPaa :mjcry:

For context - it's the same region :blessed:is from

Edit: Incredible film. Emotionally draining, but incredible.

Abraham Attah is a young don in the making.

The last line absolutely broke me.
