Thats where 50 goofed and his legendary run ended.
He was still respected heavy despite the music decline around the time.
Even after the loss if had followed through on his threat and actually retired...... He would have made himself into a bigger legend instead of fizzling out. People would have been begging for another album the moment he ''retired''. He would be in demand again giving him a 2nd chance at making better music again and coming back stong and continuing the run, if he pulled a jay z and came back 2 years later with GRODT2 or some shyt. Man it would have made him a lot of money. He messed up. Fighting with everyone, making trash music repeating his mainstream formula with lame singles and sabotaging himself really. Yeah, every thread about that sales battle is normally awful revisionist history. Without the promo he got from it 50 was going to flop. Everything he dropped at that time struggled to gain any traction until I Get Money hit.

Kanye selling more was a reflection on 50’s decline than rap music changing. 50 was smart for playing up the “feud” for all it was worth.
