If a grown adult says they don’t do or care about politics, does that mean that they’re Republican?

Anyone who does not swear their allegiance to the Democratic Party, is a republican. How has that not been made clear to you over the past year or so?
If it was the 90s or 2000s no.

But yeah, in the current day and age most people who say this are just too puzzy to admit they support Trump.
^The sad thing is this guy is dead serious. lol

It’s ok to not care about politics but in today’s climate most people that have told me they don’t follow or care about politics are Trump supporters if you dig a little deeper.

Like another poster said before 2016 and I’d argue before 2012 the average person really didn’t care about politics. Now people wear it as their identity. You know it’s bad when you got 18 yr old kids wearing Trump shirts

I also noticed someone suddenly doesn’t care about politics when you challenge their simple claims about the government and who’s responsible for what

Or it could they don't want to talk to you about politics or they don't care for that conversation at the time . Basically it's me telling you take that topic elsewhere
I never understood why anyone would want to have a debate/discussion about politics. When it’s all said and done, it’s all a personal choice when we go to the poll.

You’re rarely if ever going to change someone’s political stance.

Nothing is truly gained discussing it at work, with family and especially with strangers.

Same with religion. Someone's belief is always gonna be wrong so what's the point??

Before 2016, before Trump and all this MAGA shyt came into the picture if somebody told you they didn't care about politics or don't follow, it'd been whatever you wouldn't have held it against them.

That's because the political climate wasn't as polarized, radicalized, and socially intense to the point where now there are fandom/standom and cult-like attitudes towards politicians and the parties they represent, misinformation is also higher than it's ever been due to politics becoming more ingrained in online spaces and social media platforms.

I think the issue now is that people have finally come to a realization that not caring or showing a wilful ignorance and apathetic attitude towards politics can have lasting and potentially damaging effects and repercussions on society, not just in the present but for the future as well, as we're now witnessing with this Trump administration and their removal and disbanding of landmark policies, etc while implementing new ones that are bound to be detrimental in the long run.
