If a rapper doesn't publicly speak on what's going on now, I'm no longer listening to their music

I just need some people to stay entertaining, I don't want to see depression in everything. Just cause you don't speak about every event taking place (which is like something every week) doesn't mean that they don't care.

I mean what good can people like The Game or YG do? Dudes are promoting groups that are among the biggest threads to the black youth. So really, if those type of people are acting like they care I just can't believe it.

Other than that, people are demanding rappers to do a bunch of shyt like they are politicians when all they do is complain anonymously on the coli when the news is hot. :camby:

I'd rather these c00ns not, idiots prob end up saying something stupid like what Thug said ''i dont care about all that, we making money'' :scust:

this is basically the most PC response you'll get from these so called entertainers

they wont say NOTHING about the issues, they not tryna mess their money up..

Game gets props to me on his end, he speaks his mind and lets it be known, these other cornballs are too PC... new slaves

At least Ross is acknowledging it regardless of how minimal you may think this is.

It IS crazy how they [may] think it will hurt their corporate $$ if they speak up or/and in depth on issues like this when in reality, it won't and would open doors to new avenues, fans, etc. Look at how beneficial it was to Cole's career when he got waist deep in the Fegurson situation.

I'm 1000% convinced that the main objective of rap music as a whole, in the minds of the people who actually control it's consumption on a commercial level, is to keep young black males ignorant and criminal and to keep young black women insecure and promiscuous, to me it's not even open to debate, it's clear as day and has been for quite some time now. That said though, I don't think just rappers need to speak on what's going on, I think everyone with influence and fame and money needs to speak on it, just on a human level I can't see how anybody of any color can see the insanity happening out here and not use their voices to condemn it vehemently.
reading this post I honestly want to make a thread about it, its completely on point....and its true, I love hip hop like many of us do...have for over 20 years....but its a terrible influence on most kids today and its sad

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
that's the number 1 thing, a conscience and a mind of their own
all they see is dollars and they sell they souls for riches like bytches
these new nikkas ain't got a lick of pride in they selves and just some hoes for money
they ain't got no mind, no backbone or respect for themselves
It has nothing to do with that. Most speak but it's not how you want

What I mean is, did nwa "speak"? They made a song called fukk the police and talked about shady cops. That was the 80s

nikkas was singing bout dirty cops on r&b records in the 70s and earlier

Rappers rap about fukk cops, cops pinning cases, cops shooting nikkas, etc and been doing it in every decade, year, song since forever

But if you talking about approaching some podium and having an intelligent message about specific things. Making Jesse Williams type speeches. Hell fukking nah.

But you can't name a rapper who hasn't rapped in some form or another about fukk cops and fukk the government full of stories of dirty murderous bullshyt cops/judges/the system
