It has nothing to do with 50, the thugged out generation is gone/grown up breh, and so are most of the white girls who were into that sh*t in college/high school. 2003 was 10 years ago. You need to take a walk in most of your major hoods and see what's goin' on. Jeezy, 50, Game, etc all these gangsta rapper types are not gonna move units anymore. Chief Keef blew off a few singles, he's gonna come back down to earth soon enough. You have to make hipster/c00n/faq music in order to sell, and these days it's still pretty hard to sell big. You are better off appealing to your core fan base and keep it moving. :manny:

I see your point. But plenty of people are making hits based on selling drugs...it hasn't gone anywhere e.g Ross, ATL rappers etc

Do you realize what you're are actually saying?

That 50 is so :flabbynsick: ,even with a song that ANYBODY could make a hit out of, he can't.

:beli: Is Ross really selling like that? 50 could still make a gold album, but the days of 8x platinum are over, it's not happening, no matter if he releases a record with Adele signing the hook, it's not gonna happen. And for the record, last time I was in the Chi, I heard Major Distribution on WGCI at least 5 different times :manny:, I actually found out about the song from radio, not internet. People just aren't buying records these days, it's too easy to download. Better to have a core fanbase and do tours, or appeal to the older generation who isn't that internet savvy.

Sounds mad mid-2000's to me

If he didn't burn bridges with Wayne, Ross, Khaled and em he could've had a single with Drake and Ross and his album would be out already

:scusthov: 50 don't f*ck with b*tch azz nikkas, f*ck the record sales :pacspit: That's why I respect him so much, so many b*tch azz rappers would be quick to sell out. Wayne and Kanye tried to holla at him and the nikka was like :beli: :mjpls: :pacspit: It's his last album, Interscope don't wanna put it up because of contractual obligations, it's like the running back they keep on the sidelines because if he hits 1,500 yards they gotta pay him a bonus, since obviously this album is not gonna go 8x plat, they'll just let this drag on as long as possible while investing money in artists signed to "I f*cked myself permanently for a benz" 360 contracts.

I suggest you take your own advice. Gangsta rap never stopped being the dominant type of music to get burn in the hood. Chance the rappers & Chilish Gambino types might be doing huge college tours but where I'm from a bum drill rapper like Edai is bigger then both them nikkas put together

Nah 50 made music that was true to himself. Just so happens his true self is really about that life. Nowadays rappers are themselves too just so happens they are hipsters/emo/crooner types who came after Kanye. There are exceptions of course like Ross but it's not like other genres are doing that great outside of pop.

No one buys albums like that in the hood, though.
