duncan's TEAM has the highest winning % over his career

kobe has more all nba 1st teams...

more all nba 1st defenseive teams

see... duncan has had better TEAMS throughout his career..

Kobe has been far and away the better indivisual player...

lol @ the kobe stan logic. watch when a few years down the line and the "lebron is better all time than kobe" threads pop up. kobe stan is gonna be in there flaunting the rings and shyt, because brons individual numbers/awards will dwarf kobes

and this statement sums up why Kobe >>> Duncan

longer stretch of excellence

That's really what it comes down to. I don't agree with a lot of ROFL's arguments, but Kobe's string of dominance is longer than Duncan and so was Shaq's I don't know why people ignore the fact that Shaq was dominant from 92 to 2004.

Duncan was dominant from his rookie year in 97 until that 06-07 season, but in the finals Tony Parker took over. Parker has been the better player since. Duncan was still very good for 2 or years after that but he really only had a 9 year stretch of dominance.

Still plays elite defense though and gives you flashes. So if you're going to say Duncan is better than Kobe then you're going to have to be arguing that being elite for Duncan's 9 is better than being dominant for Kobe's 12. When the Lakers won their first ring Kobe was very good, but not dominant yet. He was clutch though.

2000 to the present. 12 years of Kobe being dominant. In that span he's made numerous all defensive teams, won MVP, two finals MVPs, second in DPOY voting. All NBA First teams, etc. Also 4 rings.

In the same span Duncan won 3 rings, two finals MVPs and two regular season MVPs. Perhaps he adds to this in June. Who knows. It very well be LeBron's year.

If he wins, he'd still be where he is right now. Top 10. Somewhere around Hakeem and Kobe.

how did win 4 as the MAN

when he was = to robinson for their 1st ring..

and Parker won a finals Mvp in one of those runs..

so you could rgue that duncan was only clearly the best player in 2 title runs..

kobe has more indivisual achievments... so if they tied in rings..

the nod go to kobe..

this argument is pointless ANYWAY..

KOBE GON END UP WITH 6 RINGS:jawalrus:
:what:
When did you start watching basketball? :what:

Duncan was a top 3 player in 99. Robinson wasn't anywhere close to that level.

Duncan averaged 21.7/11.4/2.4/2.5 in 99

Robinson averaged 15.8/10.0/2.1/2.4 that same year

Duncan was CLEARLY the better player.

In 07 Duncan was better than Parker. Duncan was a top 3 that year also.

Duncan was the best player on all his teams that won rings.

Duncan was better than Parker that year, but Parker was a beast in those finals and he's been the better player since those finals. If they win this year, Parker will be the better player. They'll like play the Heat and if they win, Parker will be the driving force.

Its a tossup. Duncan probably has the slight edge. He has one more MVP and one more FMVP. Duncan was also robbed of the DPOY a few times in his career, but you can say the same thing about Kobe when it comes to MVPs. Duncan was consistently a top 3 player from 98-99 to 06-07. With maybe a case in 08. Kobe was arguably top 3 from 01 to 09 minus the 05 season.

Its tough. You can go either way. Anyone saying that its not close don't know a damn thing about basketball or they are just a stan or a hater.

Parker was not better than Duncan in 08. Parker wasn't even better than Duncan in the finals. There is a reason why Lebron couldn't score in paint that series. Duncan had the paint on lock.

Let's chill w/this 12 year dominant Kobe run though bruh because if we REALLY being trill w/it, he wasn't dominant for 12 consecutive years but point taken

:what: Parker was better than Duncan in 07??? What the fukk are you talking about? You can argue Parker wasn't even better than Ginobili in 07. Duncan averaged 23 and 11 in the 07 playoffs before the finals, where deferred to Parker because he had a good matchup vs. an injured Larry Hughes.

Duncan and D-Rob were equal in 99?? :laff: You must be trolling. Neg.

The reason was team defense and the Spurs collectively laying off and letting him shoot. A strategy different from the regular season where LeBron dunked on Duncan. Parker was CLEARLY the best player in those finals. Please stop it, and I love Timmy's game.
