If gay marriage is allowed, polygamy should be allowed too.

Polygamy isnt an established institution. It would be creating a whole new one.

Regardless of your feelings on gay people, they, just like blacks, are simply asking for access into an already established institution that is discriminating against their inclusion for arbitrary reasons. All they are asking for is an expansion to include their person, which is morally and legally grounded in reason.

You're asking lawyers and the courts to create a brand new institution from scratch, and asking them to create laws and provisions respective to this new institution. Who is going to pay for that? Who is going to do the leg work? Who is going to satisfy questions like "how do you financially divide up assets in the case of a polygamist divorce", and "who has power of atty. in case the husband, or child, is on life support and all of the wives have different agendas on how to proceed forward? There are thousands of issues that would arise from establishing this polygamist instutiton. This is not a serious thread.

Of course polygamy isnt an established institution. Like changes made for homosexual marriage, changes made for polygamy would be a matter of expansion and adjustments to the current institute of marriage, nothing more nothing less. We already pay for a legislature, so the legislative leg work is none of my concern.

Not sure what your issue is with the division of assets under a polygamous divorce, multiple partners in a marriage doesn't mean that the assets in question suddenly become indivisible. The courts would simply consider various factors and apportion assets accordingly, just as they would during a monogamous divorce.

As for the life support/ pwr of atrny question, again the same problem arises when a monogamous couple disagree on how to proceed with their childs life support, the only difference is that there are more positions for the courts to consider and deliberation may take longer. If there are thousands of issues name more because the ones you've presented so far are lacking bruh.

Gay marriage is an obvious equal rights issue. Polygamy is not.
this

people always trying to compare gay rights to random shyt
next animal sex will be legal
:camby:

this is about these two people having the same rights as those two people.
nobody is allowed to have multiple wives, not straight, not gay, not white, not black. not underaged kids of any background.
what we are talking isn't about taboo,(hint gay isnt taboo) where talking about equality.

If only white men were allowed multiple wives then the OPs argument would have merit.

This isnt a coherent convo, because you are incorrectly framing gay marriage vs. polygamy as if to say "welp if you support gay marriage you must support polygamy". One doesnt have anything to do with the other. Gay marriage is a moral and legal issue, because its opponents are claiming that gay people should not have access to the same rights that they do because they have a personal distaste for them as people. Discrimination is wrong. Polygamy isnt available to anyone, so its an argument you'll have to make on its own merits w/o invoking gay marriage as a rhetorical crutch.

I think polygamy would be retarded for obvious reasons, but I have nothing personal against the concept and if advocates can create studies and a groundswell that act in its support then Im all ears. I mean if polygamy was enacted, would gay people be able to participate in the institution?

lol There aren't enough women for this to work. A lot of men would be single for life or they'll end up marrying each other.

maybe in China or some other place where they kill female babies.

In the US, as materialistic as we are, this shyt could go REALLY badly for the average guy.
