in 2015, i think online it would be huge. music online in 2015 is even different from music online in 2005 and even ealier 2000s of course. most people get they music online now and post on forums/blogs more than ever but online is now the center stage for music
it's where the "underground" use to be in the late 90's and early 2000s (stuff like rawkus records) but now with the internet bein' what it is today and how significant it's become to the way new artists release they music, i think if nas were to be a new artist in 2015 with the illmatic as his new album, i think it'd still be a huge artistic expression
sure, it still wouldn't sell but i think he'd still have a lot of peoples' respect as an artist for such a great piece of work. so in a sense, i think it would still be a success artistic wise and i think across the board many hip hop heads would still love it and respect it
