exactly, another album from jay would be only for ego purpose. to me he has not made a really interresting or outstanding track since his 06 return. even american gangster is a good album but overrated and not orth a come back

To be honest that never stopped the likes of Madonna or the rolling stones ...... I personally dont have a problem with rappers putting out music till their 90

the stones dropped only 3 albums in the past 20 years. the last was 10 years ago and the one before dropped in '97. so it's more like events albums that they really have time to focus on.

madonna it's different. she's not a writer or a composer so she just have to find writers and the hot producers of the moment

as for jay he didn't let his life breathe to even come with a project worth listening too. magna carta was like a publicity stunt for his samsung thing. I don't ming hearing a jay album if a drop something for a mature audience, but he can't do that type of album. andre 3000, nas or common can, but not him

because that was clear that jay didn't put any effort in this album. barely no promo and all jay was talking about was "inventing new rules". at this point he was selling that album like steve jobs at a new iphone conference. the product is ready to sell himself, all you have to do it's build the hype around it. the album had zero substance, lazy flow, boring production, horrible and pretentious cover, trying to surf on the illmuminati thang.

Eminem and Jay z are kinda alike. they are on a level where they ran out of thing to say and can go platinum off their name alone. but they are not musicaly relevant anymore

basically close to no one invite jay z or eminem on their record no more. and american gangster I maintain is a good album, but not a great one

no album by summer this year would make it 3 years which i think is the longest he has gone without putting out an album.

’96-’03 he put out an album a year

then took 3 years off, came back;

2006, 2007, 2009, 2011,2013 dropped an album.

Some people don't release a album for +20 years because they don't have to, their royalties and publishing are secure. It isn't even close to retirement. People been waiting 23 years for new Roger waters solo album. There is nothing else to add to this. Jay Z fans should consider themselves lucky.
