If Jay-Z was a young nikka in this era would he get caught up?

Even at the same age though (30-31, which is how old Jay was in 2000), Jay was a little smarter. He was flashy and braggadocious but not "pistols and work on tape" stupid, those kinds existed back then too...

He definitely woulda flaunted his money but he was already transitioning well at the same age as Jeff. Jeffrey ain't trying to transition at all and it's gonna cost him his life...

Also these nikkas are just barely younger than me, I'm 33 in a few weeks. These dudes be raising themselves, because it certain isn't true that everyone of this era broadcasts their shyt publicly. Most of them do, especially the younger you go, but I know a few dudes still active who have never posted anything illegal online that are my age range (30-35) or older; I don't really know anyone outside whose currently younger than 31 so all I know about them is what I see in passing online. But there are still nikkas who aren't raised by social media influence...

These dudes/ladies usually have a sizable and positive male influence in their lives as well. It starts with a father and encompasses uncles, cousins, pastors, men on the block and etc. You got a generation who have absolutely none of that in large numbers. Its sad.

Southern California…
I personally think if u put social media back in the 90s majority of them rappers would be caught up like nikkas today

nikkas love being seen as center of attention

From Death Row , Pac, Suge,to especially Puffy and Bad Boy, Jay especially with Dame ass being around and a lot others asses all would been exposed

nikkas are influenced by what’s going on in that time

I could be wrong

but jay seems like

I made a mistake I damn near lost a lot over this mistake

I’m not doing that again type of person

Other are like

damn I got away with it I’m gonna keep pushing my luck

Nah he was bragging about beating the case. But look fellas I've been a Hov fan since I first heard Ain't no. Yall trying to build bro up a lil too much here. He was definitely doing some shyt in his 20s and early 30s that could've gotten him killed or locked up. He talked like he was with the shyts(streets is watching dvd). But to compare him to thug is an unfair comparison. You can tell Jay is legit smart not special or a genius or anything but somebody most people would consider smart. Thug on the other hand is a crack baby no offense intended but I'm just being honest here.

Not necessarily.. Those dudes was proven to be studio gangsters and were already exposed.

These new participants in the industry don't have any skills. So they must get notoriety through outlandish behavior, not lyrics.

You can't call it. Social media is everywhere. Someone would have snitched and Hov was definitely flexing in the rhymes.

And he referenced numerous times they were trying to rope him in. Look at DeHaven, Emory, etc.

could've, would've, should've. Jay Z took hits to his image and maneuvered through them. R Kelly took hits to his image and still did the goofy with those girls he couldn't seem to leave alone.

The conversation should be centered around why is it when people catch a break, they run back to the bullshyt they caught a break from? Especially those who got money. Seems to me as if lack of money isn't the main issue why people cant act right.

Man makes the era. The era don't make the man.

In other words, a dude who's wired to move properly would have moved properly at any point in time despite when he was born.

Conversely, a dumb ass knucklehead would conduct himself as a dumb ass knucklehead at any point in time despite when he was born.

Social media didn't make people stupid. Stupid people just gravitate to it because it caters very, very well to the delusional ego and superficial narcissism of the brain dead portion of the human population.

Just another example of correlation not equaling causation.

Once jay took rap serious. He wasn’t doing anything illegal. These new dudes get more into the streets after they get money. That’s the difference.

I think 98-2001 is roughly his transition period. He achieved that mainstream notoriety, caught that case, and saw he had a chance to lose it all and he began to tighten his circle and the way he moved those years.
