If Iovine button push is such a windfall, none of that profit trickle down to any Aftermath artists:pachaha:

interscope didn't even promote his album, they started to promote him after a few weeks.

I don't hate Kendrick, I'd be goin' in and this'll be my last, on it...but, I can't let you get away with that.

via Wikipedia

2012 BET Hip-Hop Awards were on 10/09/12, Kenny wins Lyricist of the Year for an album that dropped 2 weeks later (good kid, m.A.A.d city came out 10/22/12).

Dude was in a cypher with West Coast Legends (minus YG). Performed both his singles, too.

Let's not forget the fake bidding war.

Top Dawg supposedly closed the joint deal with Interscope that March...Recipe (the infamously slow Dr. Dre produced it) dropped the next month and he was already working with Lady Gaga.

And the album dropped 7 months later.

Dude has had the GOAT push, in the modern era.

One of the few artists that I ain't tryna hear isn't an industry plant. Dude's been EVERYWHERE the last 19 months.

A push, good timing help...but I choose to not believe hiphop fans can be brainwashed into liking somebody....they pushed Rick Ross on us more than Kendrick but he still sold the usual pretty much....Jcole and Kendrick appealing to the ladies and gettin that bread, the black female fanbase in hiphop just is unnapreciated and undervalued....and I admit I guage a rappers buzz off how much nikkas and nikkas only feeling them....nikkas better realize black females got a lot to say about who's hot outchea until we start supporting who we like more:whew:....people would rather give all the credit to cacs tho:manny:....so if we wondering why the game is growing moister by the day,its the same reason a lot of nikkas sons is growing moister by the day....men need to start supporting and regain dominance of the household that is hiphop...only way to do that is to support:manny:

:wtf:

rick ross has way way more black female fans than cole & Kendrick.

cole & Kendrick got the white folks behind em.

Ask your self this; what type of exposure hasn't Kendrick gotten? The last Hip-Hop Awards (10/9/12) was basically the Interscope Kendrick Awards only two weeks (10/9/12) before his album dropped.

Dude is on everyone's album, too. I've seen him on a handful of no-name R&B singers' records.

The lack of radio play may be more evidence against the "Supply=demand" of Kendrick. Interscope is pushing him like early 00's Eminem.

What cities do y'all live in where Kendrick didnt get any radio play? They played Poetic Justice so much in Memphis and Atlanta I stopped listening to it, same thing with bytch Don't Kill My Vibe. They played the hell out of Swimming Pools but I still bump that so I didn't mind.

"The lack of radio play may be more evidence"

Wasn't stating that as fact, forgive me for not being clear

If all it took to make a platinum artist was a push of an imaginary button interscope would have a 100% success rate & be the most successful record label in the world. In reality it's a subsidiary of universal and Iovine is a nobody compared to the real big wigs in the entertainment industry,

I still remember when posters were like
"Kendrick is a nobody ! He'll never get on !"
Dude had a million views on youtube
and Section.80 had just dropped I remember saying
on :hamster: "He has a million views and is gaining
steam, this could very well translate into album sales".
(Around this time he had only sold 10,000 copies of
section 80 so people said he'd never go anywhere
in the "mainstream".)

Next thing you know, he goes plat
on his major label debut.
A lot of y'all ate crow :mjpls: so now y'all comin up with
conspiracy theories :mjpls:

I'm not saying its any different. My second post points out how the GOVERNMENT sued all the major labels for payola (paying radio for spins)..... And every single one of them were found guilty

So no it's not one label. Not just jimmy. But people in here really believe hard work and good music is all you need. That cheef keef is out here getting the same marketing dollars as Kendrick. That jimmy puts the same exact budget into every artist cause he believes in them and he's fair

Like I was saying, it's all politics. You do what they want, they push you harder, set you up for bigger tours, put you on bigger records. For no skill reason. But just because they like you more and think you're sexier, or you have a dance, or you're willing to sell out.

I am not saying Kendrick is this person. I'm saying I agree with what the man said in the interview. Give anybody a 2-3 million dollar budget and put him on all your other artists songs and tours and radio singles. Give him all the pr and magazines and he'll blow up too

If that's the case B.o.B. and Lupe should be going
plat easily :ld:

I think there's more to it than simply marketing :ld:
The guy also delivers good product, it'd be a lie in my opinion
if people said he only got on because he had the machine behind him.

I'm saying the exact opposite... having the machine 150% behind you and being great vs. having the machine 50% behind you and being great

eventually your music will have to carry you... but don't think for a second that lupe (who had to fight to the death to drop an album) is getting the same push as kendrick (who is probably being forced by the label right about now, to drop another cd and FAST)

i can't imbed but jaywan was speaking on this today about gaga

Interscope had a $25 million budget for Lady Gaga. And you tell me fan bases aren't purchased?! LOL and you won't spend a pitiful $99. GL!

Interscope devoted $25 million into the promotion budget of Lady Gaga's album and will not come close to breaking even. Album sold 260k only

you think every other artist is getting that GAGA push... hell no... different artists command different money.. after she sold 1 mil... give her all the money in the world... after she does 260k.. bet she'll never get a budget a third of that until she sells another few plat..

you think they didn't hear the cd before they put it out?? of course they did.. but who's gonna get blamed?? "gaga fell off, cut her budget" but they approved that... and if it sold big it'd be "oh gaga is gods gift, give her another 20 mil"

they don't love you

I never implied no money
was spent or that there was no
Label push, Im saying labels can't put you on or make people
purchase your music.

I think Gags is a perfect example of this.
All that money
spent and she still did dismal numbers.
