Dawg. Can you remember every single multi platinum Rhianna hit? How about Katy Perry? I can't. And those were top 5 joints. Nobody cares about the garbage songs they gobble up these days. How the fukk did 3 million people buy a song that didn't take off from an album that barely broke a mill? There's a fungus amongus. Something is a tad askew.

And if you can't see the genuine, positive reaction at radio and on the streets to WTT and how it trumped the forced epic clustetfukk that is MBDTF then you're lying to yourself.

Bruh.....:upsetfavre:

The entire music business is built on this. A song with Kanye and Rihanna(among multiple others) that costs .99 cents is gonna sell to the masses if it's any good....that doesnt mean these ppl are gonna spend $13 on the whole Kanye album. There's ppl who don't like rap music that still buy certain rap songs.

Everybody who bought "Crank That Soulja Boy" single doesnt necessarily have a full collection of hip-hop

Yeah
Seriously, who could compete? None of these songs sound dated....

And most, if not all greatest hits album contain a filler song or two that wasn't really a hit or that great of a song. Not the case here.

1. "Through the Wire" - still a great song
2. "All Falls Down" - his first big hit
3. "Jesus Walks" - went Gold
4. "Diamonds from Sierra Leone" - or the remix with Jay, still a great song
5. "Gold Digger" - HUGE hit....no question....
6. "Heard 'Em Say" - just a great song, went Gold
7. "Touch the Sky" - debatable as a "hit", but one my fav Kanye tracks
8. "Can't Tell Me Nothing" - not my fav, but it went platinum
9. "Stronger" - biggest single of his career
10. "Good Life" - another huge hit
11. "Flashing Lights" - didnt chart highly, but everyone knows this song is crack
12. "Love Lockdown" - the beginning of a different Kanye...single went 3x platinum
13. "Heartless" - tied w/ Stronger for his biggest solo hit, 5x platinum
14. "Amazing" - didnt chart well, but used for numerous commercials
15. "Power" - liked the remix w/ Jay, but still went platinum
16. "All of the Lights" - great song
17. "Runaway" - highest charted hit from MBDTF
18. "nikkas in Paris" - way overplayed, but don't front....
19. "Mercy" - 2x platinum

We can stop here, but still "Clique" went platinum, "Otis" went platinum, "No Church..." went Gold....and that's including none of his feature hits.

Eminem, as many solo singles, as he's had can't put together a commercially strong list like that. I'd argue against Jay as well. Lil Wayne or whoever else we look at cannot compete with that.

And I'm no Kanye stan, whatsover....even so I probably left off a few songs his fans would include.
You ain't never lie :blessed:

that joint didnt feel like a hit at all.

nope. it barely got spun and isn't gold. the album slow burned to platinum...much less than 808's and he had to team up with jigga to regain commercial prominence.

Yeezus is flopping RIGHT NOW.
nah All of the lights is a hit. It was top 40 on billboard. BY DEFINITION it is a hit.

So it seems Kanye is trending towards being able to sell single songs more than full LP's these days. I don't think singles sales mean what they used to because it clearly doesn't drive album sales. people hear a song on the radio and being sheep like cough up the 1.29 from there smart phone. it's a detached process and not a signifier i trust in gauging a song's worth.
he doesnt sell much b/c his albums dont have much mainstream appeal. MBDTF didnt have much. And the singles he released for it werent meant for radio, maybe except AOTL but the album sales for MBDTF were already established by then. On yeezus, he said he didnt give a fukk about selling a million records at all. The same song being palyed once a week that has no radio appeal isn't enough. He can still sell a lot of records, but he hasn't been in that radio state of mind

Dude, Call me Maybe is a big example of this. That song went NINE TIME PLAT, and the album isn't even gold. It's only sold like 250,000 copies

Same with Macklemore's album. Thirft shop is like 7x PLAT, but the album only sold more than a milli

Sold 2 million, so it went double Plat

So a song that in my human experience, in the second most important city in the states, was like 10 times as popular as AOTL, sold a million less than it?

Is this because more people bought WTT? Maybe because people knew they'd hear it out and about and thus weren't pressed to buy?

You get my confusion?
