Kobestans pretend to play dumb when it comes to the ESPN rankings but the facts are simple.

If you have prime LeBron on your team, you're a team that is expected to challenge for a title, no matter who else is on the roster. Kobe isn't that guy. He's going down as one of the best players of all time, but every year that the Lakers were picked as one of the contending teams, they also had what most experts considered the best front line in the NBA.

This point was always driven home too, just how good their front court was. A massive advantage to have, pun intended.

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
Jim Kelly is 0-4 in the Super Bowl.
Eli Manning is 2-0 in the Super Bowl.

and if you think that championship record makes Eli Manning the better QB, then :camby:
bad example considering eli threw to win both of those games... it wasn't like he was out there playing shytty and they happened to win... eli doesn't make those 2 throws and go superman in the playoffs throwing zero ints, none of that happens

The Giants also only have 3 playoff appearances since 2007. Let's remember that.

BAY AREAAAAAAA!!!!
I'm a LeBron hater, & even I can admit he is the greatest small forward/one of the greatest players to ever set foot on the court no matter what his record is in the finals. His presence on a team is so vital for them to even make it there. Without LeBron, the Cavs would never sniff the finals. He's gotten there 6 times in his career and has been in every one of the 2010 finals except 2010. Thats insane. The only thing that tarnishes his legacy to me is him going to grab those 2 microwave championships, THEN going back to Cleveland to "makes things right" instead of sticking to his guns and staying in Miami. Y'all gotta stop throwing that 2-4 record in his face. Bball is a TEAM sport. If your team ain't up to par, there's nothing you can really do. 1 man can't defeat an entire team, let alone in a series. The reason GS is so great is because they are a great TEAM. In his entire career, how many great teams has LBJ been on? Very few. Steve Nash: no ring. Iverson: no ring. TMac: no ring. Vince Carter: no ring. The list goes on. They're still great players, just weren't on great enough teams.

Do Robert Horry's titles make his legacy outweigh that of, say, Kevin Garnett? Or Patrick Ewing? Or Karl Malone?

You guys want to act like championships are individual achievements only when it suits your narratives.
When the Lakers won, it was all Kobe?
But when they were .500 teams it was all Smush Parker's fault?

:comeon:
Oh shyt

The sports media (specifically hot take type shows) would have you believe losing in the first round is better for your 'legacy' than losing in the finals which is just :mindblown: to me.

Don't listen to those shows, they are probalby the stupidest shows on TV.

I would know cuz I watch them everyday :mjcry:

At least dude has won 2 rings.

But if he finishes 2-5 or 2-6 in the Finals, that really sticks out.

Let's not act like losing 6 Finals is anything to be shrugged off. When you put that up against most greats who have got it done, that winning percentage looks pretty dismal.

This is what those legacies look like down the road:
Jerry West: The logo. If there's a player who may closely resemble LeBron in the Finals, it may be Jerry West. 55 games played across nine Finals appearances ... one title. This is what happens when you play in the Celtics' era. West is the only player to win Finals MVP from a losing team.

Wilt Chamberlain: The ever-controversial Wilt Chamberlain. Chamberlain was Russell's foil back in the '60s, despite their friendship. Chamberlain would be criticized for not passing enough, so he led the league in assists. He scored 100 points in a game. Six Finals. Two titles. One of the best players, statistically, in NBA history who was forever questioned for his mental makeup and ability to win in the key moments. This sound familiar to anyone else?

Taken from: The 10 greatest players with as many Finals appearances as LeBron James

In other words, dude going down as a great, but there were teams that plowed through him. This just goes to show, you got to get it done when you have a chance to.
