It does when most fatherless children do worse than those with fathers.

But that isn't just about masculinity. It's also about family structure and economic support. If you grow up in a single parent household without a father, you're less likely to have the privileges of those that do.

That doesn't make any sense. Having a father in your life doesn't mean he's a positive representation of masculinity, and it's said to be toxic when boys are discouraged/shamed for being vulnerable, asking for help.

Bro let's cut this new age shyt out. Nobody likes or wants a soft ass man around. Women definitely don't, other men don't either. Calling that toxic whenever it's literally just preparing you for the cold hard reality of being a man is retarded.

What is a soft ass man to you? You can get called soft for admitting you have depression and seeking therapeutic help. That's retarded.

People who try to get rid of toxic masculinity are not against masculinity.

Masculinity is not toxic by default.

"Toxic" masculinity is that false macho behavior that is actually harmful to others and the person exhibiting it. It's malice hiding behind the cover of being a "male" trait or "boys will be boys".

Examples would be being overly aggressive (to the point of happily inflicting harm or cruelty), overly competitive (to the point of obsession), overly confident (to the point of narcissism/arrogance), or overly sexual (to the point of being lewd or creepy).

I am a masculine man, and I reject toxic masculinity. Neither the woman in the OP nor others in this thread understand what "toxic masculinity" actually is and why it's bad.

I guess it depends on your opinion of masculinity. Different strokes for different folks

Bro EVERYBODY gets depressed at times, that isn't the point I was trying to make. Hate to burst peoples bubble on this, but most people are out here just fighting to make it and survive. Yeah I can empathize with the fact you went through some tough shyt, but guess what everyone has problems bro it's an eat or get ate world we live in.

Toxic masculinity =//= masculinity

Most of the boys growing up without an example of masculinity in the household are the ones who toxic masculinity affects the most.

Sure. But being vulnerable doesn't mean you give up.

I don't think masculinity in and of itself is toxic. That's stupid to say. But the idea that boys shouldn't cry and have to bottle up their emotions when hurt is more damaging than positive.
