If a guy who's 0-0, and just crossing over for a cynical money grab fight manages to defeat a top 5 all time great known for technical excellence and high level defense, what does that say about the credibility of boxing as a sport and a fighting art in the 21st century? I'm 99.9% sure Floyd will humiliate him and possibly put a severe beating on him, but if he cannot beat an interloping MMA fighter in his damn own sport - one which he has dominated for an unprecedented 20 years with relative ease - what are the consequences for boxing in the public perception?

Considering most casuals don't give any boxer of any caliber or weight class a chance in MMA (remember that Ronda versus Floyd nonsense?), one has to wonder what the fallout will be if a dominant legend who was a few years away from schooling Canelo cannot defeat a wandering MMA fighter who challenged him on a whim.

McGregor keeps talking about knocking Mayweather out - we all see that as an unlikely scenario and also McGregor's only hope - but imagine how much of an upset (and payout *cha-ching*)} it would be if McGregor wins by decision

Now imagine Mayweather wins by decision - or even by KO - the whole world goes "Well, this is exactly how I expected this to go"

So the only way this is an event that lives up to it's hype is if Mayweather loses. That's the entire sell of the event and it will be a disappointment if he doesn't. Globally speaking.

As for me, I admire Mayweather. I view his generalship in the ring as one of the greatest examples of mastery that any human has had in their chosen profession, perhaps ever

but can it really be this easy? The simplicity of this match-up is making me question reality. Nothing should be this easy to call. I have a feeling the universe is going to do some balancing out here

There will be some talk to go around if Mayweather loses . . . this would open up the door for McGregor-Pacquiao

See thread - 2018 - Pacquiao comes back for one more fight ... against McGregor

I think McGregor has a shot against Pacquiao - especially with more training to come.

But there's a lot of people that will end McGregor's boxing credibility, if he beats Mayweather he would have to avoid these people

If he wins he'll definitely never box again unless it's a Floyd rematch ($$). I think win or lose he'll probably retire since he's making 9 figures.

A fighter retiring at 29? We would have to assume that he has no passion for the sport then

Let's just make this the bizarro-world thread where we entertain the idea that he wins

If he wins McGregor-Pacquiao is a nine figure fight easily

McGregor is purely driven by commerce. He won't even defend his belts because that's not "marketable".

If he wins, and it's somehow not a fluke, I guess he would be pretty stupid not to fight Pacquiao and get another 100 mil.

How old are you :what:? This isn't a rhetorical question, dummy, I'm not rooting for McGregor
Old enough to have shot you out of my dikk no homo

Yes you acknowledged Connor has no chance so why make this rhetorical thread?

Only cacs are coming up with these hypothetical white man dreams, there aint no hype. There aint no drama. Its a sparring session for Goatweather, all work is easy work

Nothing is a foregone conclusion. It's highly unlikely, but it CAN happen (let's hope not though :scust:).

What if we see McGregor give Mayweather 12 different looks during the fight:jbhmm: . . like definitively different looks that anyone could recognize . . and we watch Mayweather adjust and dissect each one

Making this one of the greatest displays of technical prowess ever put on tape and a true boxing seminar :banderas:
