In this hypothetical world do ameriCACs and their "win with class :mjpls:", draft system, "they must go to college and be paid nothing :mjpls:" mentality etc exist? If it does then it'll be more of the same tbh. That mentality is the antithesis of success in football. One country with a vaguely similar mentality is England and they haven't won shyt since a rigged world cup on home soil in 66.

England has academies....infact so does Spain

Pretty sure Rooney, Ronaldo and Theo Walcot were like 17-18 when they America breedpro

Good question though... I don't know

I could see the young athletes going overseas to stack paper & fukk euro models

like Brandon Jennings did in Italy

Then coming back to Amerikkka

I'm not sure where you got that 5'11" number. I can't find that number on google, it's a hard number to define, but the average height of the 2014 World Cup was 181.8 cm or 5' 9.5 according to this site: Age, Height and Weight of Players in the 2014 FIFA World Cup | Visual.ly

We're teetering on the edge of finding numbers to say whatever the hell we want at this point tho...
I don't want to beat a dead horse, but I believe you and and a couple people are arguing two different points. Players of all heights are seen in football. Depending on the country, the heights vary greatly. You can imagine Argentina's height on average being less than Germany's etc. It is not uncommon to see attacking players, especially Central and South American players (Where let's face it, most of the top clubs get their attacking talents from this region) to be well under 6'0, sometimes being as small as 5'5, 5'6. Its also not uncommon to see tall players over 6'0, in defense and less commonly in the attacking positions (strikers are not rare to be around your NBA PG height 5'8-6'2, especially Europeans and African nations)

What we were saying though, was its MUCH rarer to see soccer players who have the body types, and heights as your average NBA shooting guard, or small forward and above which is what OP and some posters were imagining. That is not seen in world soccer much at all, and the reasons for it are numerous but usually the players mobility is greatly hindered when on the ball. Hope that makes sense.

Why are you guys using BB players as examples? Like someone mentioned, tall players don't necessarily make the best soccer players. Zlatan and Pogba are the exceptions:patrice:

The Spanish team which has dominated the past decade are all short:francis:

I would say football players, especially WRs and DBs would have the necessary athletic ability (pace, change of direction, quickness, etc) to be really good. Plus most of them need to have good footwork to play their positions and good footwork coordination is necessary in soccer:ehh:

Some of the clumsiest elite athletes when it comes to footwork coordination are BB players:mjlol:
Duncan is lauded for his footwork just because he's a big man who don't trip on himself:skip:

Best footwork by an NBA player has got to be Olajuwon. And he developed it playing soccer:whew:

Because not all basketball players are tall, the average height for a PG is 6'0" 180lbs and athletically they are more in line with Footballers than NFL players. The NFL is sprint based, nobody runs for sustained distances and has to continue running without a break, in the NBA you can go several minutes of back and forth running with little to no stoppages.

Endurance can be built through training. There's no skill involved in doing that, just getting your work in. Shiet, I now do 6 mile runs on the regular and I never used to run when I was younger.

Explain so I can diss out that ether

Africans play soccer and love it. This little tournament that is played in Africa every 2 years plays host to 16 countries who have to qualify to be part of it. It's a very big deal there. The tournament has been going on since 1957.

Most basketball players are too tall and heavy to play football very well. Guys like lebron would look so awkward and clumsy with the ball.

Maybe a guy like westbrook if he played football instead of basketball would be great. He has the right athletic tools and 6'3 is a not bad height.

Who are the Africans playing on these teams? The rich Africans that can afford to not work and practice and join their version on the AAU teams? Or the everyday African?

I wouldnt mind seeing football get humongous over here, and more blacks started to get in.

Something needs to give the NFL a run for its money.
