Nas did it 2.5 months later, as well. Of course, we live in a much different era...but Nas at least gave the little "H to the OMO" freestyle first.

Pac was strong as fukk and still couldn't destroy biggie. Why? A huge majority of the hip hop audience also loved Big.

We heard "hit em up" saw the video and said that's fukked up. He ain't have to do him like that! And STILL proceeded to bump big. The people's love held him down.

Jay is respected. Not loved. (mostly)
See hip hop's reaction to ether as evidence

But Nas is genuinely loved by the people/hip hop community (mostly)

See how quickly they turned on meek..

How crazy will it be if meek ends up fukking up HIS career

If he responds musically, dude need to deliver. Simple
Get it right the first time no 2nd chances

When Jay Z dropped Takeover everyone turned on Nas.

I got agree with u there. It took me years to come around to Ether cause in my house it was Jay hands down. To this day Ether is dope as fukk but I'm still pushing Take Over as the winner.

His deadline was last night cause Drake stans don't want him to get slaughtered so imposed an imaginary deadline? Lol. Hasn't even been a week lol, there's no deadline like that, just let the record drop and then see who has the best record, no need to be insecure, the best diss records win the battle..

When Jay Z dropped Takeover everyone turned on Nas.

Maybe the pop radio crowd..and a few insiders. Majority rap fans was like "Jay got him but imma wait to hear Nas response"

If EVERYONE turned on nas, ether would've never gotten a fair listen because people's mind was already made up.

Keep in mind there was no doubt Nas will respond so anticipation was massive. Hardly equates to EVERYONE has turned on you when they can't wait to hear what u have to say..

False, nobody turned on Nas. But everyone did think he was done and he couldn't came back. And its the same people that thought that, that respectfully praised the napalm bomb.
wrong nikka. when your own fan base counts you out that's considered "turning". Nas: "Out of luck no constructive plans, . . . I cant trust my fans"

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
That whole battle was :wow: I was even :lupe: after Takeover dropped because Jay made a classic album to back it up. Nas on the other hand was was on a album slump and probably at this weakest point musically. Then add to the fact that his moms was dying. Nobody expected Nas to drop anything significant which made Ether even more :ooh:
