Rewatched the series last month and I'd probably say yes but I feel like it already is. Wasn't until the last few years I hear more about Next Friday than the original.

I love all three movies its just the first one has serious elements and times where you actually felt the characters are in jeopardy. The second and third movies are just straight jokes which were great also.

Next Friday: Uncle Elroy was in jeopardy of losing his house

The plot was serious but the mood of the movie never was not once did I actually feel the characters were in danger like the original.

The one scene in Friday which took a step back from the humor was when Craig's dad caught him with the gun and asked him what it was for. So that one brief serious tone trumped anything in Next and Friday after Next. Gave a serious nod to the reality they lived in.
