The only problem with your comment is that Black Star was produced by Hi-Tek, so it was essentially Reflection Eternal & Mos Def. I.E. Reflection Eternal beats and foundation to songs.

:childplease:

Reflection Eternal isnt touching Blackstar, and neither are toouching Mos and Black on Both Sides. Wasnt train of thought the last album of the three?

Obviously the simple interpretation of the line is that if skills sold, Jay would rap similar to how Kweli raps in terms of saying things that actually matters, a lot more introspective, not doing shyt to appeal to the masses etc. But when he saw the money rapping like he did on Vol.2. could make he started doing what a larger group of people wanted instead.

That's pretty simple to understand, what's unclear is that it does not equal his action. Since Vol.1 e.g. is a bigger sellout album than the album he said that line on and other examples.

What has that got to do with anything? Talib and Hi-tek laid the grounds to the album, they were a duo before Black-star on an underground tip. Mos is obviously better than Talib, but that doesn't mean that he gave him a career.

I don't think anyone knows the meaning of that whole quote, someone needs to ask Jay about it.

Does it mean that if what lyrical skills? Technical skills? sold and not grind & hits he'd be living in a small apartment like Kweli? One of Jays most obscure lines.

Or I ain't been rhyming since Common Since line too, the fukk does that mean? That he was rhyming like Common on Vol. 2 but wack rhyming on BP and TBA?

I see as nothing but dope rhyming and punchlines.

Common used to be called Common SENSE before he obviously dropped the "sense" out of his name.

Do your homework.

wow...im so bored listening to reflection eternal. Somebody give me some Drake/Jay/Nelly/Future...or whatever popular nikka of the moment past or present, in order to "excite me". I have to be part of the crowd.

Wack:

I dunno where this myth came from. He tries to fit too many words in his rhymes, he's wack

"Just cuz he wears a kufi doesn't mean that he's bright!"

Its the same shyt Wale kinda suffers from to be honest with you.

Dude doesn't have control of his flow like that. Look at that Ryan Leslie song he just did.

Dude is doing WAY too much.

Why did hov put Talib on a pedestal like that?

He's WACK and corny, always has been

His nasally ass has always been wack.

I'm still annoyed by his "New York Niqqas be acting spoiled at shows" line on Ressurection.

Nah niqqa....we find you boring. Make your money outta town.

it was after RD when he stopped tryin to rap like Common/Kweli lyrically, not after Vol. 1. Vol. 1 had songs like City Is Mine/Sunshine anshyt. it was the non success of RD which had him thinkin maybe all this deep lyrical shyt ain't the way to get money. RD was very deep lyrically and even songs like Ain't No nikka you have to pay attention to the lyrics. Hov is still lyrical and most nikkaz still don't want to see him on songs but he got much simpler compared to RD where you had to really listen to it or you would miss somethin. Hov is a hustler from the start so his mind state is to get money plus his bills be through the roof so he can't do #'s like the Roots(or Kweli/Common.)
