I'd do stocks as well. or mutual funds. I'm not risking all that cash on a business when the majority of businesses fail. at least with the stocks, they will go up or go down, but it's not likely I lose everything..

a subway franchise is like $15k i hear, but other than that I can't think of too many things that can be started and supported by just $20k. I believe carpet cleaning franchises cost under $10k.
