1994 is a what could have been in NY sports in general. Rangers won the cup but

Knicks :mjcry:
Yankees were a top 2 squad killin' it before the strike
:mjcry:

We had a shot to win three championships in one calendar year :mjcry:

2-18. bytch ass illiterate nikka
:francis: bytch ass owners all getting together to say "lets all make an effort to sign no players to drive salaries down" and trigger the strike. Donnie would have his ring and a bust in Cooperstown already :francis:

Then the south wouldve took over in 1996 and not in the early 2000's.

Once the yankees dynasty ended the rap game changed.

This s one of the biggest "What ifs" that I think about concerning the NBA...

How much differently would we look at Patrick Ewing and Hakeem Olajuwon had John Starks hit that shot in Game 6 and the Knicks win the championship?

Hakeem was obviously the superior player -- people even saw that in college despite the fact Georgetown won a title -- but I always wondered how we would look at both of them had the Knicks won that championship. Obviously bringing a title to New York would have made Ewing a god forever.

But would we look at Olajuwon the same way (people arguing him for the GOAT center)? Would the Rockets have been able to come back the next season and win a title? Would Kenny Smith even be on Inside The NBA now, much less talking like he was the GOAT roleplayer in NBA history? Would Ewing be argued amongst the best centers ever?

I think the only thing different would've been Ewing's exit from NY - everything else would remain the same. That entire roster sans Anthony Bonner, Charles Smith and Derek Harper are beloved and forever Knicks. They get love like we actually won. Ewing would still be viewed as he is. I still have him at Top 10 C's but most don't.

THE SOUTH DIDNT TAKE OVER UNTIL THE MID 2000S.
JAY-Z/DMX/JA RULE DOMINATED THE EARLY 2000S
AND THE WEST WAS ON TOP IN 96
