If the U.S. is serious about remaining dominant, then why not push computer science?

it is obvious that the next battlefield is cyber.
if i was in charge, i would be pumping as much money as possible into educating
the youth as in this new art of war.

nope...cut education.

how many kids in rural or urban areas have never used a computer?
how many kids who are lucky enough to have access to this amazing tech have no idea how it works?

why not educate our population and invest in the people who will be able to keep us safe?

you want to learn coding and computer science?
cool...after we pay for your education, you will work for the goverment in some capacity for x number of years.

this should be one of the most important objectives of america...but sadly, it is not.

because american education systems aren't designed to give our kids a chance to succeed, it gives them a chance to be mediocre... :francis: cogs in the wheel so to speak...

the ability of the american government to procure and keep people who are able to help in this matter is lacking.

when and if america get's it's infrastructure hit via cyber attack, it will make 9/11 look like child's play.

i hope that i am just being a pessimist but the lack of forethought given to this point gives me very little hope.

If the goal is to have more dumb people around, why would they want to educate said people?

What do you mean by computer science? Are we talking software engineers, i.t. Specialists, etc?

Here's why. Republicans hate the idea of "them" getting "their" tax dollars. They can't get over the idea of 30% coming out of their paycheck and knowing the government pays for schools and grants to educate kids. Take a look at a breakdown of your local taxes. Local taxes get a big chunk dedicated to local schools.

Taht's also why Republicans are against the Departmetn of Education (federal taxes) and the teachers union (raising wages which means more taxes).

I can't remember who said it, but lower and middle class white Republicans don't look at themselves as lower and middle class. They view themselves as "temporarily disadvantaged millionaires." Because, anyone can work hard and get rich right? Taht's why all those poor people are poor, they don't work hard right? Republicans don't say "hey, these taxes built that world class high school that's giving my dusty ass cac babies a chance to get into a great college." They look at it and say "look at all the shiftless brown people whose lazy ass kids are gettinga free education :mjpls:" And the rich Republicans say "I got mine, fukk them. I can send my kids to private school :win:"

So, when you start talking about the concept of the "commons" and uplifting the American community or national, long-term objectives, Republicans don't think like that. Unless they want to bomb some brown people on another continent.
