If the WWE is going away from PPVs, how will this affect wrestler pay?

I'm not trying to count someone else's money, however, PPV payoffs, especially that coming from Wrestlemania, have been where wrestlers make their big check of the year. With the E going to a subscription service how will this change the game?

The fact that this is unknown supposedly factored into Punks decision. According to dem sheets. Take it as you will. But yeah, no one knows right now

The stoop with dat dope fanny padding
I bet going forward, only the top guys will get their hands on that money.

they are bringing up new guys who don't know any better, or will take whatever... people like cena, taker, orton, batista will be taken care of, but everybody else probably will end up losing money on this deal.

Honestly like all the PPVs outside of Mania and Summerslam are like episodes of RAW pretty much anyways with a gimmick PPV here and there :manny:

If you watch the MMA interview with Punk though he brings up the exact question of how it'll affect their pay.

They're not eliminating the E completely off Cable TV right away. I'm also not sure how much of a payout the Wrestlers get just for being at Mania. I assume Main Eventers get a nice bonus but I think for most of the mid-carders and openers they're happy that they're even on the card itself. Not every Wrestler can say they participated at Mania.

Well take it like this.

(11 * $45) + $60 = $555 per buy for all WWE PPV's in 2013.
Now with the WWEN business model = $120 per subscription.

Now lets do the math using this, with WWE WM 29 Buyrates.

1,048,000 buys = $581,640,000 under the old model.
1,048,000 subscriptions = $125,760,000 under the WWEN model / a 79% loss

Now take like CM Punk, who gets like maybe 3-5% of the gate fees (I have never seen the financial cuts for PPV's buys, but I assume lower), because Cena gets the most.

$581,640,000 * .04 = $23,265,600 if the same buyrates like WM happened for all WWE PPVs
$125,760,000 * .04 = $5,030,400 on the WWE Network model.

also might depend on how their other sources of income are divided. like let's say merchandise and ticket sales. will the company cut some of their merchandising percentages to make up for the difference in ppv price? or will the network have more subscribers than current ppv buyers, thus killing the stream game and be able to pay the wrestlers more money? personally I think the company will make more money but keep the wrestlers the same pay or maybe pay a bit less blaming it on operating costs. hopefully this added revenue and a cut in expenses makes the stock price go up.

1.04 was the amount of households/business that bought WrestleMania. If you used that, as a fixed amount for all of the WWE PPV's you have across the board, not just WM, that is the total you would have.

So 1,048,000 buys * $555 = $581,640,000.

they barely crack 250k on anything, WM is an anomaly that gets 1m off the name.

True but either way, the network cuts off a decent portion and subscription plan to cover the costs of lost revenue because no one wants to see shyt like Battleground.

Well now they don't have to pay TV providers shyt on PPV sales, and all the subscription money AND ad revenue on the network go straight to WWE.

I would think they can divide that money based on amount of people that stream a program? Since it's a reward for raising the value of a marketing slot?
